Sound editing is an important step of post-production. It is done only after the final plan is in place for the video production and all the cuts have been made. It is a step-by-step process, just like any other editing process. Here’s what the sound editing process looks like:
· Dialogue Editing: This is the first step for sound editing after the picture
lock is completed. The dialogue editing phase involves clip corrections, the
proper sync of ADR, along the removal of sounds that should not be present with
the dialogue, such as the background noise that interrupts the dialogue or
makes it inaudible.
· Sound Effects: introducing sound effects is the next step in audio editing.
Sound effects breathe life into video production. Hard effects such as single
sound additions are added first. The next step is to add foley sound that syncs
perfectly with the sound performed on the screen, such as a glass dropping or a
window getting shut. The final step is to create the final ambient layer of
sound.
· Mixing It Together: After introducing music, the final step is to mix the audio
files back into the video editing software to keep them in sync.
